18 Aug 2005 - VISITORS FROM ICELAND
We were delighted to welcome to Hugin Vikings Football Club a team of 13 and 14 year old girls from Afturelding in Iceland.
The team came over to Thanet with their trainer/manager Bjarki Sverrillon and details of their stay were sorted by Sigridur Gudjohnsen, one of the mums.
The girls arrived on Tuesday 16th August 2005 and came to have a training session at Hugin F.C's ground at Dumpton Park Drive in Ramsgate on Thursday 18th August 2005 prior to a match with a selection of Hugin's girls.
It was a great game to watch and the Hugin girls played so very well as a team albeit they came from a selection in the Hugin Clubs teams and only went down 6 - 4 to the Iceland girls. This was a tremendous effort by our girls as the Afturelding girls are noted to be one of the best girls teams in Iceland by all accounts.
A great time was had by all and on the following Friday the visitors again came over and spent a couple of hours training in the pouring rain and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We now await for a time when we can all visit them over in Iceland for our return match.
