Maureens thoughts

Hugin Vikings was formed by myself in Cliffsend, which is a little village situated just outside Ramsgate, in March 1995, at the request of the local children. Quite mysteriously a set of full size goalposts appeared on the village green one Sunday night. Once they were returned to their rigtful owners the local council realised there was no recreational facilities for the youngsters. The council agreed to instal a set of goalposts on the green, but the children had to raise funds to purchase and take care of the nets. Hence a ring on the doorbell on the following Sunday morning for sponsorship for the nets. During the conversation with the children I asked if they had any adults to help and advise, and thay said "no", so I volunteered, and here we are today. We first started off with friendly matches against other youngsters, as we were of all ages, but over the years the squads have grown to the numbers we have today, with friends, school mates, brothers, sisters, mums and dads.

So there is a rundown of where we are so far, obviously we are always ready to welcome new members , and at the end of the day our mission and vision is to offer football for all ages , and as importantly for all abilities.

Another dream of the club is to purchase land big enough for a couple of pitches, a nice brick pavilion, and ample parking. Having had the experience of our own facilities at Warten Road, to "REALLY" have our own home would be dream come true. We have been near on a couple of occasions and have been let down at the last moment.

So if anybody has any land available in the Ramsgate area please let me know.

My Sincere and grateful thanks must be expressed to everyone connected with the club. As I say the club would not function without the members, managers and assistants etc., and I value so much everyones imput into creating the friendly, family orientated club that we all run.

Thank you all so very much.

Our AGM was held at the Red Arrow Club and I must compliment all the members in attendance. Most squads were represented but it was noticed that sections had not sent representatives which was a shame.
Items on the Agenda included signing off the minutes of last years AGM, Administrators report including various items of interest received, accounts details from the Treasurer .
A new Officers Committee were voted in as follows:
Chairperson: NIKKI BAMFORD
Vice Chairman: BARRY PERRY
Treasurer: Steve Davies
Administrator: Maureen Fiander
Child Protection Officer : DIANE VIGNON
SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER: LYNNE CHESTERFIELD
FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT OFFICER: PAUL DENNIS
plus all the Managers and Trainers who automatically become Committee Members.
All the Managers/Trainers present gave account of their squads progress and it was most encouraging to learn of the progress of each and everyone of them. We are all now looking forward to League participation for the season 2006 / 2007.
